Hey pretty girls!
So in December I kinda had a bit of a problem :P
My skin was continuously breaking out and I really didn't know why. A lot of people said it was probably because I didn't wash my face well enough at the end of the day - which isn't true. Others said it was because I had been wearing a lot of makeup around the time - which could have been the cause, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyway ... I decided, one day, to stop wearing foundation or any sort of major coverage products on my skin, for about a week. In the mean time, I washed all of my make up brushes thoroughly. I've always used a Clinque Liquid Facial Soap in 'Mild' to take the day's dirt off - but some how I feel like it's never really done much for me.
While browsing through my absolute favorite makeup guru's youtube page, that is dulcecandy87, I came across a video where she was ranting and raving about skin care products by MaryKay - so I thought I'd give the brand a try!
I'd only heard of MaryKay and never used any of their products before. I went online, did a little research of my own and found a beauty centre pretty close to my place :) When I visited the centre I was extremely pleased. A professional skin care assistant helped me pick out products that suited my skin best.
Since MaryKay is a brand that focuses on nourishing and protecting the skin, I decided to try out a foundation and a concealer. I ended up buying the following item:
MaryKay Acne System Trial Set
MaryKay TimeWise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation
I have GOT to say that I have no regrets about purchasing either of these products and will DEFINITELY continue to purchase them!
The first and most important product (because it was the one I mainly went to the centre for) is the MaryKay Acne System Trial Set!
As you can see above, the MaryKay Acne System Trial Set comes with 3 tube, each of a different size and different function.
The largest tube on the left is the Clarifying Cleanser
Description: This clear, lightweight cleanser removes excess oil, rinses clean with no residue and keeps surface dead skin from collecting in pores. Skin is clean, refreshed and ready for the next step.
The medium sized tube on the right is the Pore Purifying Serum
Description: This translucent, silky serum helps control oil that may result in pimples. The powerful formula glides on smoothly and absorbs quickly as it minimizes the appearance of pores and helps reduce shine.
And lastly, the small tube in the middle is the Spot Solution
At present, I don't follow the acne regime every single day. I tend to be satisfied with just washing my face with water every morning and night because I don't feel the need to constantly apply the products. However, every so often when I find my skin is looking a little down and out of it, I start using the products and within 2-3 days my skin looks great! So I probably should stick to constantly following the MaryKay acne system but ... What can I say :P I'm a bit of a lazy person :P
Now, I live in India and I was told that this little set was only available in Asia. However, in other counties, full sizes of each tube are available and sold separately (but I'm unsure about this!).
Besides the wonderful Acne System Trial Set by MaryKay, I also purchased the MaryKay TimeWise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation!
I am SO glad I picked this up! The color suits my skin tone to perfection! I'm an NC 44-45 in a MAC Select SPF Foundation so I choose to buy the Bronze 1 MaryKay foundation which is about the same shade.
I have never used a matte foundation before and I have to got to say that I absolutely ADORE it! It's perfect for people with oily skin or an oily t-zone (LIKE ME!). If you want a little bit of a do-y look, I would suggest not setting it with a powder or anything but I like to set it just to further prevent my skin from getting oily, especially if I know I'm going to be out in the sun or just out for a long night! :)
After I bought these MaryKay products and realized how much I ADORED them I knew I had to go back and get some more stuff!
So I went and got a couple more items:
MaryKay Ultimate Mascara
MaryKay Sheer Mineral Pressed Powder (I had to buy the Mini Compact separately!)
MaryKay Concealer
I have got to say that I'm really loving all of these products as well! I won't go into too much detail but I will say this:
The mascara is absolutely great! My lashed have never looked as dark and as long before! I will definitely continue using the item and will repurchase it when this one gets over :)
The pressed powder is okay - I probably wouldn't purchase it again just because I really love MAC's Studio Fix :) So I'll probably just stick to using that! But it's not a bad product either! I guess it's just not for me :P
The concealer is absolutely fabulous! I had never really used concealer before so I wanted to try my hand at it! It's really creamy! It's a little expensive for the quantity but I guess you don't really need a lot! Just a little bit under the eyes and you're all set!

I can happily say I will NEVER EVER use a different skin care regime again! This is absolutely perfect for me! When I first started using it, I used to follow the system in the morning before going to school and then at night before going to bed. Each product has played a successful part in making my skin look a lot better and also continues to fight and prevent my skin from breaking out. I CANNOT remember the last time I had a huge skin break out on my face!
Of course, the occasional pimple does occur during that "special" time of the month. However, instead of leaving it to get big and red and then eventually pop, I just apply a little bit of the Spot Solution to the blemish and it fades away with in days - LITERALLY!
The company promises clients will note results within 7 days of continuous use of the products and I can gladly vouch for them!
